Annie Fisher, LCSW, loves, writes and teachers about the inner life and is a certified focusing oriented teacher and therapist through the International Focusing Institute. She has been studying and practicing inner listening for 12 years as taught by Ann Weiser Cornell, Gene Gendlin’s protegé.
While Annie uses psychoanalytic theory in her practice, her passion and training lies in guiding clients in coming to know the safe and powerful resource of their own inner life and voice through a simple, yet deep listening process. This compassionate practice, which a client can use outside of therapy, works well with issues such as unresolved grief, stuck, painful patterns of behavior, depression, work/career dissatisfaction, opening to love and creativity, feelings of unworthiness, spiritual issues, trust, unlived desires, critical thoughts, motivation, fear of intimacy and co-dependency. Being deeply present for and listening with attentive awareness allows the release of old emotional wounds which enable us to go forward in our lives, free to make new choices. With gentle guidance, clients learn how to reclaim the smaller truths of who they are that then reveal and illuminate the larger truth of all that they were meant to be. Anyone can learn this natural healing process and is a complement to other healing modalities.
Annie enjoys working with fellow therapists, yogis, meditators, 12 steppers, health care professionals, creative folks, those in transition, those desiring to learn how to feel or to grow their intuition. She hosts a bi-monthly group that gathers to focus and discuss the spiritual and psychological process of the inner life. Annie teaches deep listening in groups or individually and offers presentations and trainings to other health professionals.
Additional listening trainings include: The power of wanting, the inner critic, focusing alone, treasure maps to the soul, relationships, decision making and some dream work mini-classes. Three year long training in internal family systems work including addiction. Mindfulness based stress reduction. New Diamond Heart student – a psychological spiritual practice of deepening our understanding of who we are through inquiry.
Annie is the proud mother of a 26 year old daughter. She lives for creativity, nature, continued learning, growth, connection and Love.
